Playa Santa Clara, Panama

After I left Panama City I stopped in at XS Memories in Playa Santa Clara. It was unusual in that the proprietor kept exotic birds, such as the toucans Fric and Frac, but it was usual in that it was another useless experiment in trying to use the flammable hot water shower head in the bathroom. The thing snapped, crackled and popped and I thought it was going to catch fire so I gave up washing for another two days. The beaches in Santa Clara are totally deserted and beautiful, so if you're looking for a getaway in the middle of nowhere, this is it. However, real estate developments were going up by the hundreds in the surrounding area so it isn't going to be private for much longer. After Santa Clara, I took a bus to David before moving on to Costa Rica. It was noticeably different from Panama. Panama has shaved off all its trees, the land was flat most of the way through to Costa Rica.
