Beautiful British Columbia

British Columbia is the furthest point west in Canada and includes one of the largest islands in the world - Vancouver Island. One of ten Canadian provinces, it has loads to offer in the way of outdoor activities. If you're a hiker, biker, rock climber, camper, kayaker, bird watcher, swimmer, star gazer, snorkeler, diver or just an ordinary bloke who likes to take a walk in the woods, this is the place for you. Canada is all about having the 'great outdoor experience.' If you want to see old buildings and crumbling archeological sites, you'll have to go to Europe.

I love skiing and 20 kms from where I lived is Mt. Washington. It's expanding every year and it's been a few years since I've been up there skiing or cross-country skiing, but it's worth checking out.

If you want to go camping and swimming there's Comox Lake, five minutes from my house in Cumberland. You can bring a trailer and camp out or bring your boat and go fishing. The first time I ever came to the valley I camped out here, and brought my cat, which immediately climbed one of the trees and wouldn't come down for two days. How much fun was that. The place is beautiful, as you can see by the pictures.

And then there's the interior of B.C. which I love, particularly the Kootenays. These pictures were taken around the Okanagan Valley - Pentiction and then further around Trail, B.C. There are beautiful lakes and rivers everywhere to go swimming and camping.
