The landscape through Cambodia was bleak and obviously much poorer than Vietnam. The lush, green countryside of Vietnam was replaced with a more muted green, and there were fewer trees, most of them having been destroyed during the Pol Pot regime. Simple wood houses were built on stilts because of flooding.
